Body Rhizomatous, stem ascending, woody towards the base
Height Up to 1 m tall
Leaves In spirals, oblong to elliptic to lanceolate, occasionally three-lobed.
Flowers Inflorescenses purplish, peduncl 2-6 cm long, receptacle discoid and plane. Flowering face elliptic, sometimes triangular , up to 2,5 x 1,3 cm, fringe up to 3 mm broad. Primary appendages 2, 10-18 cm long, sometiimes toothed. Secondary appendages 6-30, up to 4 cm long.
Reproduction Seed from fruit
Area In Cameroun and Gabon;
In primary and secondary forest;
At altitudes up to 950m.
